Watch on YouTubeVideoAir pollution and its effects
Adding harmful substances to air is air pollution. Sources:
- Vehicle exhaust (CO, NOx, particulates)
- Factory smoke (SO₂, dust)
- Burning crop stubble / garbage
- Household fuels (firewood, kerosene)
Effects:
- Breathing issues, asthma
- Acid rain (damages plants, buildings)
- Greenhouse effect → global warming
- Ozone layer depletion (old CFCs)
Example
Delhi's winter smog can reduce life expectancy by years for people living there. Masks and air purifiers help, but the real fix is fewer emissions.
💡 Tip:Planting trees, walking/cycling, public transport, LPG instead of wood — small choices, big impact.
