Watch on YouTubeVideoCarbohydrates and fats — energy foods
Carbohydrates give quick energy. Every gram gives about 4 kilocalories.
Types: sugars (fruits, honey), starches (rice, wheat, potato).
Fats give even more energy (9 kilocalories/gram) and also help insulate the body and absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K).
Sources of fats: butter, ghee, oil, nuts, meat, egg yolk, cheese.
Example
An athlete eats lots of carbs before a match. A child in a cold region (Eskimo diet) eats lots of fats for warmth.
💡 Tip:Too much of either leads to obesity. Proportion matters.
