- Carbohydrates — the body's quick energy source. Rice, roti, potato, bread, sugar.
- Proteins — growth and repair. Dal, eggs, paneer, soybean, meat, fish.
- Fats — concentrated energy + insulation + vitamin absorption. Ghee, oil, butter, nuts.
- Vitamins — tiny amounts needed for special functions. Named A, B, C, D, E, K.
- Minerals — calcium (bones), iron (blood), iodine (thyroid), etc.
- Water — ~60% of body; needed for digestion, blood, temperature.
Plus roughage (fibre) — undigested plant matter that keeps our digestion smooth.
