Concept 2 of 10Foundation
Watch on YouTubeVideoArea — how much it covers
Area = flat space inside a 2D shape. Measured in square units.
Think of filling the shape with 1×1 square tiles.
- Square (side s): A = s × s = s²
- Rectangle (ℓ, b): A = ℓ × b
- Triangle: A = ½ × base × height
- Parallelogram: A = base × height
Example
Rectangle 8 cm × 5 cm → A = 40 cm². A square side 7 m → A = 49 m².
💡 Tip:Area units are always squared: cm², m², km², hectares, etc.
