Concept 3 of 10Foundation
Watch on YouTubeVideoArea of a triangle — the ½ × b × h rule
A triangle is exactly HALF of a rectangle with the same base and height.
So: A = ½ × base × height.
The height is the PERPENDICULAR distance from the top vertex to the base — not the slanted side.
Example
Triangle base 14 cm, height 9 cm.
A = ½ × 14 × 9 = 63 cm².
A = ½ × 14 × 9 = 63 cm².
💡 Tip:If the height isn't given, use a set square to drop a perpendicular from the top.
