Watch on YouTubeVideoThe 3 R's and composting
The waste pyramid (best to worst):
- Reduce — use less. Buy only what you need.
- Reuse — use again (bags, bottles, jars).
- Recycle — process into new products (paper, metals, glass).
Composting: pile up biodegradable kitchen and garden waste in a bin. Microbes break it down in weeks into rich, dark soil (humus) — a natural fertilizer.
Example
A family of 4 produces ~1 kg of wet waste daily. Composting turns ~365 kg/year into free organic manure.
💡 Tip:Adding 'Refuse' (say no to plastic straws etc.) makes it 4R's — even better.
