Water scarcity and conservation

Though Earth looks blue, only ~2.5% of all water is fresh. Most is locked in ice caps and glaciers; only a tiny fraction is accessible liquid fresh water.

Ways to save water:

  • Fix leaking taps and pipes.
  • Close tap while brushing.
  • Shower shorter; bucket beats hose.
  • Rainwater harvesting — catch and store rain.
  • Drip irrigation on farms.
  • Reuse greywater for plants/flushing.
Example
A dripping tap wastes ~15 litres a day — that's 5,400 litres a year, enough drinking water for one person for 7 years.
💡 Tip:"Every drop counts" isn't a cliché — it's literally true with freshwater scarcity.
