Concept 1 of 8Foundation
Watch on YouTubeVideoWhy we separate mixtures
Most things around us are mixtures — two or more substances physically combined. We separate them to:
- Remove harmful bits (stones from rice, dust from water)
- Extract something useful (salt from sea water, iron from scrap)
- Get purer products (tea leaves out of tea, cream out of milk)
The method depends on HOW the components differ: size, weight, state, magnetism, solubility, boiling point.
Example
Khichdi = rice + dal + spices + water. Cooked together but could theoretically be separated using multiple techniques.
💡 Tip:First ask: how are the components DIFFERENT? That tells you which method fits.
