Plant and animal sources

Most food has either a plant or animal source.

  • Plants: wheat (roti), rice, fruits, vegetables, lentils, oil from seeds, sugar from cane.
  • Animals: milk, curd, ghee, butter, eggs, meat, honey (bees collect from plants but make it).
Example
A masala dosa: rice + lentils (plants) + ghee (animal) + potato + spices (plants).
💡 Tip:Pure vegetarians eat only plant-source food (and eggs/dairy depending on definition).
