Concept 6 of 11Foundation
Watch on YouTubeVideoMultiplying fractions
Just multiply straight across: tops × tops, bottoms × bottoms.
2/3 × 4/5 = 8/15.
Before multiplying, cancel common factors to keep numbers small:
3/8 × 4/9 → cancel 3 (top) with 9 (bottom) → 1/8 × 4/3; cancel 4 with 8 → 1/2 × 1/3 = 1/6.
Example
3/5 of 250 = 3/5 × 250 = 3 × 50 = 150.
💡 Tip:"of" in fraction problems usually means ×.
