Watch on YouTubeVideoMagnetic vs non-magnetic materials
Magnetic — attracted by magnets:
- Iron, steel, cobalt, nickel (the main 3 ferromagnetic metals)
- Alloys containing these
Non-magnetic — not attracted:
- Wood, plastic, rubber, glass, water, air, paper
- Copper, aluminium, gold, silver (metals but non-magnetic!)
Example
A magnet attracts a steel paperclip but not a copper wire. Iron nails stick; aluminium foil doesn't.
💡 Tip:Not all metals are magnetic — only iron, cobalt, nickel and their alloys.
