Rest and motion

An object is at rest if its position doesn't change with time. In motion if position changes with time.

Motion and rest are relative. Sitting in a moving bus, you're at rest compared to your seat, but in motion compared to the road.

Example
A book on a desk — at rest. A moving car — in motion. The Earth is always in motion (spinning and orbiting Sun).
💡 Tip:Always ask 'relative to WHAT?' when deciding if something is moving.
