Sieving

Separate particles of DIFFERENT SIZE using a mesh. Small particles fall through; large ones stay on top.

Uses:

  • Bran from flour (in a kitchen sieve)
  • Gravel from sand (construction)
  • Tea leaves from tea (strainer)

The mesh size determines what passes through.

Example
Atta (flour) with tiny bran chunks → sieve → fine flour falls through, bran stays on top.
💡 Tip:Sieving = SIZE-based. Doesn't work if particles are similar in size.
