Concept 2 of 4
Watch on YouTubeVideoSoluble and insoluble
A material is soluble in water if it dissolves and disappears (sugar, salt). It's insoluble if it stays separate (sand, chalk dust, oil).
Example
Sugar in chai: soluble (you can't see it any more, but the sweetness is there). Sand in water: insoluble (it settles at the bottom).
💡 Tip:Some liquids (like petrol, kerosene) are insoluble in water — they form a separate layer.
