Watch on YouTubeVideoWool processing — from sheep to sweater
- Shearing — sheep's thick fleece is cut off in summer (painless, like haircut).
- Scouring — thorough wash to remove grease, dirt, sweat.
- Sorting — by fineness and quality.
- Cleaning and combing — remove burrs, straighten fibres.
- Dyeing — add colour.
- Spinning into yarn, then knitting/weaving.
Example
One sheep yields about 2–5 kg of wool per year. Enough for 2–3 sweaters.
💡 Tip:Shearing a sheep is like giving it a summer haircut. The fleece grows back.
