Balanced diet and food hygiene

A balanced diet has the right PROPORTIONS of all 6 nutrients + water + roughage.

Food pyramid (bottom = eat most, top = least):

  1. Whole grains, vegetables, fruits (most)
  2. Dairy, pulses, eggs, fish, meat
  3. Fats, oils, sugar (least)

Food hygiene:

  • Wash hands before eating/cooking.
  • Wash fruits and veggies.
  • Cook meat/fish thoroughly.
  • Refrigerate leftovers.
  • Don't eat too much junk/street food.
Example
A thali (rice, roti, dal, sabzi, salad, curd, pickle) is a beautifully balanced meal by design — thousands of years of wisdom.
💡 Tip:Balanced doesn't mean boring. Keep rotating foods in each group weekly.
