Concept 7 of 10Foundation
Watch on YouTubeVideoDrawing circles and arcs
Circle parts:
- Centre (fixed point), radius (centre → edge), diameter (edge → edge through centre = 2 × radius).
- Chord: segment joining two points on the circle.
- Arc: part of the circle's boundary.
- Sector: pizza slice (two radii + arc).
- Segment: chord + arc region.
Example
Draw a 3 cm radius circle, mark a chord 4 cm long. Distance from centre to chord is less than radius.
💡 Tip:The perpendicular from the centre to a chord bisects the chord.
