Watch on YouTubeVideoPerpendicular bisector
A perpendicular bisector of segment AB cuts it in half at a right angle.
Key property: every point on it is EQUIDISTANT from A and B.
Construction:
- Set compass to more than half of AB.
- Arc from A (above + below the segment).
- Same opening from B (above + below).
- Line through the two intersection points = perpendicular bisector.
Example
If A and B are two houses, the perpendicular bisector of AB is the set of all locations equally close to both.
💡 Tip:Perpendicular bisectors of the 3 sides of a triangle meet at the circumcentre.
