Real-world uses of perimeter and area:
- Fencing → perimeter. Cost = P × rate.
- Tiling → area of room ÷ area of one tile = number of tiles.
- Path around a garden → big rectangle area – small rectangle area.
Example
Tile a 4 m × 5 m floor with 50 cm × 50 cm tiles.
Room area = 20 m² = 200,000 cm². Tile area = 2,500 cm². Tiles needed = 200,000 ÷ 2,500 = 80 tiles.
Room area = 20 m² = 200,000 cm². Tile area = 2,500 cm². Tiles needed = 200,000 ÷ 2,500 = 80 tiles.
💡 Tip:Always convert units to MATCH before dividing.
