Levels of politeness
Same idea, three levels:
- Direct: Pass the salt.
- Polite: Pass the salt, please.
- Very polite: Could you pass the salt, please?
Example
To Maa: "Could I have some water, please?" To a friend: "Pass the water?"
💡 Tip:In olympiads, the politest option that's natural is usually right.
