Reporting questions
When reporting a question, change the form:
- Yes/no questions: use if or whether.
- Wh-questions: keep the question word.
- Always shift the verb tense back.
Example
He asked, "Are you tired?" → He asked if I was tired.
She asked, "Where do you live?" → She asked where I lived.
She asked, "Where do you live?" → She asked where I lived.
💡 Tip:In reported questions, you do not use a question mark — it's a statement now.
